Public hospitals enhance support to COVID-19 patients and daily update on COVID-19 cases

As at 0.00am today (November 23), a total of 2 547 patients who tested positive for COVID-19 are currently hospitalised for treatment, including 342 new patients. Currently, there are 250 patients requiring oxygen therapy and 11 patients requiring ventilator support. Among the patients staying in isolation facilities, 621 patients are in isolation wards, 187 patients are in second-tier isolation wards and 587 patients are in the North Lantau Hospital Hong Kong Infection Control Centre, of which 235 in total are new patients. There are six newly reported critical patients and 16 newly reported serious patients. There are a total of 48 patients in critical condition and 67 are in serious condition, of which 10 critical patients are receiving intensive care. Moreover, there are 316 patients who have recovered, including 267 patients who have been discharged. In addition, 11 patients who passed away in public hospitals were reported.
In the fifth wave of the epidemic, there are 85 049 patients who have recovered so far, including 84 632 patients who have been discharged. And since early 2020, there are 97 429 patients who have recovered, including 97 012 patients who have been discharged.
In addition, a 58-year-old female patient in an infirmary ward of Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital tested positive for COVID-19 on November 20. Further investigation identified five more female patients (aged 43 to 66) tested positive for COVID-19. All patients are symptomatic. Among them, a patient passed away yesterday (November 22) while other patients are under isolation treatment and are in stable condition. Admission and visiting arrangements for the ward concerned have been suspended. Thorough cleaning and disinfection operations have been conducted in the areas concerned and infection control measures have been strengthened.
In response to the increasing number of confirmed cases in the community, the HA will strengthen the service capacity of seven HA Designated Clinics for COVID-19 Confirmed Cases (Designated Clinics) and tele-consultation services to provide medical support for confirmed patients in the community.
In order to focus manpower and resources to further enhance Designated Clinic and tele-consultation services, Sai Ying Pun Jockey Club General Out-patient Clinic, Aberdeen Jockey Club General Out-patient Clinic, Central Kowloon Health Centre, Lady Trench General Out-patient Clinic and Tuen Mun Wu Hong Clinic will adjust services from tomorrow (November 24). Details of the service adjustment arrangements of the clinics concerned together with the service adjustment arrangements of other General Out-patient Clinics announced earlier are set out in the Annex.
Chronic patients with follow-up appointments at the clinics concerned are advised to refill their drugs at the corresponding medication refill clinics on the appointment day by presenting their appointment slips and identity cards. The HA hopes the community will understand these arrangements.
