LCSD remakes Hiking Scheme videos (with photos)
***********************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) is remaking a series of Hiking Scheme videos. Through introducing routes with various levels of difficulty across the territory, the scheme aims to promote hiking and a culture of regular exercise in families.

The Hiking Scheme is one of the thematic activities under the Healthy Exercise for All Campaign jointly organised by the LCSD and the Department of Health. Apart from publishing pamphlets to introduce 44 featured hiking routes, the LCSD also set up a dedicated website for the Hiking Scheme (www.lcsd.gov.hk/en/healthy/hiking/index.html) with videos for the public's enjoyment. To enrich the related information and to improve the video quality, the LCSD is remaking these videos gradually and the newly enhanced ones include "Ma On Shan - Ngong Ping - Tai Shui Hang", "Devil's Peak - Tseng Lan Shue", "To Tei Wan - Big Wave Bay", "Lau Shui Heung - Tai Po Tau", "Braemar Hill - Tai Tam Tuk Reservoir", "Hok Tau - Fung Yuen", "Tai Au Mun - Hang Hau", "Wu Kau Tang - Luk Keng" and "Shing Mun Reservoir - Pai Tau Village".

These videos include transportation guides, hiking route cross sections, route lengths, estimated time to finish the trips and levels of difficulty. Attractions, historic backgrounds along the routes and hiking points to note are also newly covered in the videos so that members of the public can have a more comprehensive grasp of the routes when making their hiking plans before departure, and to enjoy the fun of hiking and the peacefulness of nature.

Hiking is good for the body and the mind, but safety always comes first. The LCSD reminds members of the public to choose hiking routes wisely and not to overstretch themselves. They should take into account the weather, their own fitness conditions and the actual conditions of the routes. Hiking with companions and adequate gear is also recommended. Hikers should follow anti-epidemic measures, always maintain good personal and environmental hygiene, and keep the countryside clean.
