*******************************************************************************
The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, London (London ETO) co-organised Fashion Hong Kong Sustainable Designer Showcase in London with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. The Showcase brings six fashion designer labels from Hong Kong to show the UK audience how Hong Kong fashion designers embrace the concept of sustainable fashion.

At the opening event of the Showcase on November 15 (London time), the Director-General of the London ETO, Mr Gilford Law, said, "This year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Thanks to our unique status under 'one country, two systems', Hong Kong has remained a cosmopolitan city with a dynamic and diverse cultural flair over the past 25 years. Our role as an East-meets-West centre for international cultural exchange is set to enhance as supported by the National 14th Five-Year Plan." He hoped that participants could have a glimpse of Hong Kong's creativity through this Showcase.

With the Showcase also illustrating Hong Kong's efforts in applying scientific research, Mr Law introduced to the audience about the host of initiatives to develop Hong Kong into an international innovation and technology centre, such as promoting commercialisation of research and development outcomes and pressing ahead with re-industrialisation, as announced in the Chief Executive's 2022 Policy Address.

The opening event featured a panel discussion on Hong Kong's sustainable fashion scene, during which experts in the fashion and textile industry shared their insights on Hong Kong's strengths and opportunities in developing sustainable fashion.

The six designers showcased selected pieces at The Mills Fabrica London from November 15 to December 31.
