Contractor fined for violation of safety legislation

     A contractor was fined $50,000 at Fanling Magistrates' Courts today (November 15) for violation of the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.

     The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on November 25, 2021, at an upper floor unit under renovation at a building in Yuen Long. While carrying out truss-out scaffold erection work at the external wall of the unit, a scaffolder fell to the podium on the second floor of the building and died.
