The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Dubai (Dubai ETO) held a business seminar and dinner in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, on November 10 (Riyadh time) to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). The event was jointly organised by the Dubai ETO, the Saudi Chinese Business Council, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Invest Hong Kong.

The seminar featured speeches from the Director-General of the Dubai ETO, Mr Damian Lee, and the Chairman of the Saudi Chinese Business Council, Mr Mohammed Al Ajlan. The Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion (Business Development) of Invest Hong Kong, Dr Jimmy Chiang, and the Deputy Director of the Middle East & Africa of the HKTDC, Mr Abdul Aziz Nasser, gave video and live presentations respectively to elaborate on the investment and business opportunities in Hong Kong and their related services and support to the attendees of the seminar.

Speaking to about 130 guests from the public and private sectors attending the seminar, Mr Lee welcomed them to the first major business event in Riyadh organised by the Dubai ETO. He said that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR, and remarked that despite the ups and downs over the years, Hong Kong has always proven its resilience.

Mr Lee highlighted that Hong Kong enjoys direct access to the huge Mainland market, while at the same time has strong international connectivity. Hong Kong offers unlimited business opportunities brought about by key national strategies including the National 14th Five-Year Plan, the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the Belt and Road Initiative. He therefore encouraged participants to tap into Hong Kong's unprecedented business opportunities.

A panel of leading business people in Riyadh also spoke to the attendees at the seminar on their experiences and insights on doing business in and through Hong Kong.

The business seminar was followed by a networking dinner in which participants further connected and exchanged views with speakers and other business representatives.
