LCSD to conduct public opinion survey on booking and allocation mechanism of leisure and sports facilities
***************************************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will conduct an online survey starting today (November 1) to gauge public views on the booking and allocation mechanism of leisure and sports facilities under its management including types of leisure facility, sessions/hours and implementation priority for balloting when implementing a new intelligent sports and recreation services booking and information system (the new System) next year.

The LCSD is developing a new System to replace the existing Leisure Link computerised booking system. Its core functions are expected to be launched in mid-2023. On top of the first-come, first-served allocation mechanism, the new System will include a new function of allocating the recreation and sports facilities by ballot according to the type of facility as well as the specific session. Taking into account the public views gathered, the balloting mechanism for different types of facility will be implemented in phases. Facilities will be booked and allocated through balloting first, while the remaining sessions will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis under the existing mechanism. This function will also extend the coverage to free outdoor pitches and courts, such as hard-surface football pitches and basketball courts.

The LCSD will conduct the survey at major recreation and sports facilities, including sports centres, tennis courts and soccer pitches, from November 1 to 30. Users at the venues will be invited to scan the QR code and take the online survey on their mobile phones. In addition, members of the public can also complete the survey during this period at www.lcsd.gov.hk/en/facilities/facilitiesbooking/freeusescheme_survey.html.

Members of the public are invited to participate the survey.
