Fighting in public place case in Aberdeen reclassified as manslaughter

     Police reclassified a fighting in public place case in Aberdeen on October 23 as manslaughter.

     At 7.19pm on October 23, Police received a report that two men were fighting with each other outside Shek Pai Wan Road.

     Police officers sped to the scene and found a 58-year-old man lying on the floor. Sustaining face injuries, he was rushed to Queen Mary Hospital in unconscious state. After initial investigation, Police arrested a 45-year-old man for fighting in public place and laid a holding charge against the 45-year-old man with one count of wounding on the same day. The case was mentioned at Eastern Magistrates’ Courts on October 25. The next mention will be on December 6.

     The 58-year-old man was certified dead at 10.09pm on October 28.

     Upon further investigation, Police reclassified the case as manslaughter.

     Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death of the deceased.

     Active investigation by the District Crime Squad of Western District is underway.
