Public hospitals daily update on COVID-19 cases

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     As at 0.00am today (October 29), a total of 1 934 patients who tested positive for COVID-19 are currently hospitalised for treatment, including 217 new patients. Currently, there are 183 patients requiring oxygen therapy and nine patients requiring ventilator support. Among the patients staying in isolation facilities, 355 patients are in isolation wards, 120 patients are in second-tier isolation wards and 538 patients are in the North Lantau Hospital Hong Kong Infection Control Centre, of which 132 in total are new patients. There are three newly reported critical patients and seven newly reported serious patients. There are a total of 32 patients in critical condition and 39 are in serious condition, of which 10 critical patients are receiving intensive care. Moreover, there are 224 patients who have recovered, including 183 patients who have been discharged. In addition, eight patients who passed away in public hospitals were reported.
      
     In the fifth wave of the epidemic, there are 79 082 patients who have recovered so far, including 78 730 patients who have been discharged. And since early 2020, there are 91 462 patients who have recovered, including 91 110 patients who have been discharged.
      
     In addition, three male patients (aged 66-89) in a rehabilitation ward of the Kowloon Hospital tested positive for COVID-19 since October 26. Investigation found three more patients confirmed infection with COVID-19. Two of them are symptomatic and a patient is asymptomatic. All patients were transferred to the United Christian Hospital for isolation treatment and are in stable condition. Admission and visiting arrangements for the ward concerned have been suspended. Thorough cleaning and disinfection operations have been conducted in the ward concerned, while infection control measures have been enhanced.
      
     The Hospital Authority will maintain close contact with the Centre for Health Protection to monitor the latest developments and to inform the public and healthcare workers on the latest information in a timely manner.
