Lifeguard services at beaches in winter

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced today (October 29) the following arrangements for lifeguard services at its 39 gazetted beaches during the period between November 1, 2022, and March 31, 2023:
 
Deep Water Bay Beach, Clear Water Bay Second Beach, Silverstrand Beach and Golden Beach

November 1, 2022, to March 31, 2023
Lifeguard services available from 8am to 5pm daily
 
Repulse Bay Beach, Middle Bay Beach, Stanley Main Beach, Big Wave Bay Beach and Silver Mine Bay Beach

November 1 to 30, 2022, and March 1 to 31, 2023
Lifeguard services available from 8am to 5pm daily
(Lifeguard services suspended from December 1, 2022, to February 28, 2023)
 
     Lifeguard services at the remaining 30 LCSD beaches will be suspended from November 1, 2022, to March 31, 2023, during winter. A detailed list can be found in the attachment.
 
     The LCSD appeals to beach users to comply with the Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition on Group Gathering) Regulation (Cap 599G) on the prohibition of group gatherings of more than the number of people as stipulated by the law. Members of the public should wear masks at all times when being present in any public place in accordance with the Prevention and Control of Disease (Wearing of Mask) Regulation (Cap 599I).
 
     Barbecue sites within gazetted beaches will resume normal operation from November 3 gradually.
 
     The LCSD calls on members of the public to observe water safety while swimming. People should swim at the beaches only when lifeguard services are available. Please do not enter the water when the red flag is hoisted.
