The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Housing Authority:

The Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) has achieved encouraging results at the Construction Industry Council (CIC) Celebration of BIM Achievement 2022 and the Autodesk Hong Kong BIM Awards 2022, receiving an organisation award and three project awards (see Annex for details).

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is the process of generating a three-dimensional, digital representation of building data throughout its life cycle. "We are delighted to be recognised for our efforts in BIM development. Since first adopting BIM in 2006, we continue to expand the breadth and depth of BIM implementation in our projects with the objective of supporting and complementing our goal of delivering quality public housing," a spokesman for the HA said.

The winning project titled "BIM in Statutory Submission and Control - a successful step" focuses on the use of BIM for the drawing production process to facilitate statutory submission, one of the most important aspects of BIM implementation in the construction industry. The HA's BIM Service Team collaborated with the project team of San Kwai Street public housing development to derive an efficient workflow and developed a number of useful automation tools to enhance the drawing production process.

The other winning project, titled "Planning for Success: BIM for Construction/Safety Planning and Risk Mitigation", mainly focused on utilising BIM-generated simulation videos for tender assessments, with an aim to ascertain the safety and buildability of contractor's proposal, and to minimise risks and delays.

"The HA is faced with an unprecedented housing production target. We firmly believe that the use of BIM and other innovative technologies can enhance construction speed, quality and efficiency. We will continue to explore new and creative means to meet our housing production targets," the HA's spokesman added.
