******************************************************************************************
The Correctional Services Department (CSD) officially launched its multi-purpose family and rehabilitation service centre in Shau Kei Wan today (October 26) to provide psychological and counselling services for rehabilitated offenders and their families, as well as a video social visit service for families of persons in custody.

The Chairman of the Committee on Community Support for Rehabilitated Offenders (CCSRO), Ms Tsui Li; the Honorary Advisors of the CCSRO, Mr Lau Hon-wah and Mr Siu Chor-kee; and the Commissioner of Correctional Services, Mr Wong Kwok-hing, officiated at the launching ceremony of the service centre. Ms Tsui highly commended the CSD for keeping pace with the times and being committed to providing diversified and appropriate rehabilitation services. The opening of the service centre today will not only strengthen the rehabilitation support service and facilitate video social visits by relatives and friends of persons in custody, but also provide family-based psychological services to help released rehabilitated offenders establish correct values, smoothly reintegrate into society and become law-abiding citizens.

The service centre features a Change Lab, where the department's clinical psychologists will, through a series of psychological services, help young rehabilitated offenders develop a positive mindset to enhance their resilience so that they can face various pressures and challenges, and at the same time will strengthen their relationship with their families and help them get on the right track and reintegrate into society to lead a positive life. Moreover, the interior design and layout of the service centre was designed by the department's clinical psychologists to offer a therapeutic atmosphere and can enhance the effectiveness of psychotherapy.

To strengthen the connection between persons in custody and their relatives and friends, the service centre also provides video social visit arrangements, so that visitors who are unable to visit correctional institutions due to old age, pregnancy, disabilities or other special reasons can make an appointment for a video visit.

Located at Marina House, 68 Hing Man Street, Shau Kei Wan, the service centre is open every day except Wednesday from 8.30am to 5.30pm, and relatives and friends of persons in custody can make video visits at pre-booked time slots. In addition, the department will set up three more multi-purpose family and rehabilitation service centres in Sheung Shui, Sha Tin and Tuen Mun that are expected to be put into service between the end of this year and early next year.
