Fatal traffic accident in Tai Po

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident happened in Tai Po this morning (October 23) in which a 34-year-old man died.

     At about 9.01am, a private car driven by a 45-year-old man and a motorcycle driven by the 34-year-old man were travelling along Bride’s Pool Road towards Sha Tau Kok in sequence. When approaching near Tai Mei Tuk Raw Water Pumping Station, the private car reportedly crossed the lane. The motorcycle driver then lost control and crashed into a tree.

     Sustaining serious head injuries, the motorcycle driver was rushed to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 9.40am.

     The private car driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North is underway.

     Anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers on 3661 3800.

     Police strongly condemn the irresponsible driving behaviour of the driver. It not only jeopardises the safety of other road users and threatens ones’ personal safety, but is also the actual cause of serious traffic accidents. Police do not tolerate such acts and will take resolute enforcement action.
