Convenor of ExCo Non-official Members speaks on Policy Address
**************************************************************
The following is issued on behalf of the Executive Council Secretariat:

Following is a transcript of remarks by the Convenor of the Non-official Members of the Executive Council (ExCo), Mrs Regina Ip, at a media session on "The Chief Executive's 2022 Policy Address" in the Legislative Council Complex today (October 19):

Reporter: John Lee rolled out a lot of measures to recruit international talents to the city, but apparently there was no new measure on relaxing COVID restrictions ... How can Hong Kong attract international talents?

Convenor of ExCo Non-official Members: As the Chief Executive has explained very clearly, Hong Kong is adopting a very careful and step-by-step approach toward reopening our city. And as the Chief Executive pointed out in the concluding part of his speech, Hong Kong has many natural advantages: superb geographic location, beautiful countryside, lots of talents and our connection with Mainland China, which is one of the world's biggest markets with tremendous potential. So I am confident that the new measures rolled out by the Chief Executive to attract top talents and top companies will be able to take us forward in improving Hong Kong's competitiveness.

Reporter: Is there anything that you wished the CE (Chief Executive) would have addressed in his Policy Address?

Convenor of ExCo Non-official Members: I think his Policy Address is highly comprehensive. The Government received thousands of submissions and has listened to a lot of views. I am sure the Chief Executive will continue to listen and improve as we go along.
