Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected methamphetamine and suspected heroin worth about $620,000 (with photo)

Hong Kong Customs yesterday (October 12) seized about 1 kilogram of suspected methamphetamine and about 10 grams of suspected heroin with a total estimated market value of about $620,000 in Tsuen Wan. A man was arrested.

During an anti-narcotics operation conducted in Tsuen Wan last night, Customs officers intercepted a 20-year-old man and found about 500g of suspected methamphetamine inside a plastic bag carried by him. The man was subsequently arrested.

Customs officers later escorted the arrested man to a residential premises nearby for a search and further seized about 500g of suspected methamphetamine, about 10g of suspected heroin, a batch of drug packaging paraphernalia and $47,400 in cash.

An investigation is ongoing.

Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
