Holding centre at Harbour Road Sports Centre to cease operation on October 20
*****************************************************************************
The Social Welfare Department (SWD) announced today (October 13) that, due to the subsiding epidemic situation, the holding centre at Harbour Road Sports Centre will cease operation on October 20.

The SWD has been setting up holding centres in various sports centres this year to provide care services for elderly persons and persons with disabilities who have contracted COVID-19 but are either asymptomatic or showing mild symptoms. These people include not only residents from residential care homes but also patients who lack proper care in the community.

The holding centre at Harbour Road Sports Centre, which has been operating since September 1, is an isolation facility for elderly persons. The care service and medical support are provided by the Lok Sin Tong Benevolent Society, Kowloon, and Quality HealthCare respectively. The SWD expresses heartfelt gratitude once again to the teams for their professional services.

The SWD will continue to monitor the epidemic situation and make adjustments to the use of isolation/quarantine facilities in accordance with the advice given by relevant bureaux and departments.
