Government announces latest arrangements of COVID-19 vaccination venues (with photos)
*************************************************************************************
The Government announced today (October 12) that nine additional COVID-19 vaccination venues will be set up progressively at locations with convenient transportation or high patronage this month to provide convenience to members of the public. In addition, five Community Vaccination Centres (CVCs) and one Pop-up CVC will be closed at the end of this month after the new vaccination venues have commenced service.

(1) Setting up of seven Private Clinic COVID-19 Vaccination Stations (PCVSs)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Seven additional vaccination stations will open from October 18 to administer the Sinovac vaccine for persons aged 6 months or above and the BioNTech vaccine for persons aged 12 or above. Starting from 9am on October 13, members of the public can make reservations for free vaccination services through the booking system on the designated website of the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme (booking.covidvaccine.gov.hk). The seven PCVSs are as follows:

Good Hope Building, 612-618 Nathan Road, Mong Kok (Bamboos Professional Nursing Services)
T.O.P, 700 Nathan Road, Mong Kok (JP Partners Medical Centre)
1 Wu Kwong Street, Hung Hom (Dr Leung Shu Piu Clinic)
Metro City Plaza 1, 1 Wan Hang Road, Po Lam, Tseung Kwan O (Dedicare Medical)
Landmark North, 39 Lung Sum Avenue, Sheung Shui (JP Partners Medical Centre)
Citywalk, 1 Yeung Uk Road, Tsuen Wan (Platform Medical Centre)
Tung Chung Crescent, 1 Hing Tung Street, Tung Chung (Quality HealthCare)

(2) Setting up of two Community Vaccination Stations (CVSs)
--------------------------------------------------------------------

The Wong Tai Sin Temple Square CVS started providing service for the public today. In addition, the Government will set up the Java Road Playground CVS at 363 Java Road in Quarry Bay (near Exit C of MTR Quarry Bay Station) from October 31. Online reservations will be available from 9am on October 25.

The two CVSs open daily from 9am to 6pm will provide vaccination services for the two vaccines, i.e. the Sinovac vaccine (for persons aged 6 months or above) and the BioNTech vaccine (for persons aged 12 or above).

(3) Service enhancement of two vaccination venues to concurrently provide two types of vaccine
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Starting from October 31, the Millennium City 5 CVC in Kwun Tong and the Lai Chi Kok Park CVS will enhance their services from providing Sinovac vaccination service only in the past to providing Sinovac (for persons aged 6 months or above) and BioNTech (for persons aged 12 or above) vaccination services. Online reservations for the BioNTech vaccination service at these two vaccination venues will be available from 9am on October 25.

(4) Closure of six CVCs
--------------------------

The CVCs at the Boundary Street Sports Centre, the Lai Chi Kok Park Sports Centre, the Hiu Kwong Street Sports Centre, the Java Road Sports Centre and the Sai Wan Ho Sports Centre, as well as the Pop-up CVC at 17th floor, Landmark North in Sheung Shui, will operate until noon on October 31, and will be closed afterwards.

The Secretary for the Civil Service, Mrs Ingrid Yeung, said that the Government is adopting a more flexible and more cost-effective strategy to work with private medical organisations and make good use of different venues to set up vaccination stations at locations with convenient transportation or high patronage to expand the service network, and the number of PCVSs will be increased to 26. Taking into account the arrangements above, the daily vaccination capacity available will be about 63 000 doses, which is far above the current demand for vaccination.

"Since the demand for vaccination has decreased, we hope to utilise other venues suitable for vaccination in the same district and increase vaccination venues for administering the two types of vaccine. We will return the Boundary Street Sports Centre, the Lai Chi Kok Park Sports Centre, the Hiu Kwong Street Sports Centre, the Java Road Sports Centre and the Sai Wan Ho Sports Centre to the Leisure and Cultural Services Department after the closure and site clearance of the concerned CVCs," she said.

She expressed gratitude to Sun Hung Kai Properties for providing the venue at Landmark North free of charge for use as a Pop-up CVC.

The Government reminds members of the public to receive a suitable number of COVID-19 vaccine doses as soon as possible for self-protection and to reduce the risk of falling seriously ill and death should they get infected. Persons aged 60 or above can collect a same-day ticket at CVCs, PCVSs or CVSs for appointment-free vaccination.

The designated website for the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme (www.covidvaccine.gov.hk/en/programme) provides the latest information including details on vaccination venues, reservations and enquiry hotlines.
