Hong Kong's architectural achievements showcased in New York (with photos)
**************************************************************************
Supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, New York (HKETONY), the Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA)'s Urbanism and Architecture Exhibitions for Excellence "Beyond Territories – Made. Make. Making" unveiled at the Ideal Glass Studios in New York on October 11 (New York time).

Featuring the works of more than 25 local and international firms, the exhibition marks the third stop of a six-month roving exhibition that started in Hangzhou, followed by Beijing. After New York, the exhibition will conclude in Hong Kong at the end of this year. It is also one of the celebration programmes of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Director of HKETONY, Ms Candy Nip, said, "Hong Kong's architecture embodies the city's rich culture and cosmopolitan character. The innovative displays in the three core zones ("Made", "Make", and "Making") of the exhibition fully epitomises the timelessness and timeliness of the architectural achievements of Hong Kong in the past quarter-century."

In partnership with the American Institute of Architects, New York (AIANY), the HKIA will organise a two-day symposium on urban design and sustainable architecture during the exhibition period. "The symposium provides an excellent forum for professional and cultural exchanges between Hong Kong and the United States", Ms Nip added.

The exhibition is now open to members of the public until October 25. For more information, please visit the website: m3beyond.hk/home/.

Also officiating at today's opening ceremony included Vice President of the HKIA, Helen Leung; Vice President-Elect of the HKIA, Julia Lau; curators of the exhibition Professor Bernard Lim and Roger Wu; President of the Royal Institute of British Architects-USA, Catherine Clark; Executive Director of AIANY Center for Architecture, Benjamin Prosky; and Deputy Consul General of the People's Republic of China in New York, Li Shi-peng.
