Correctional officers stop assault on person in custody

At 8.30am today, seven male remand persons in custody aged from 22 to 34 assaulted another male remand person in custody aged 26 inside a dayroom. Officers at the scene immediately stopped the fight and called for reinforcement.
During the incident, the victim sustained injuries to his head and back and was referred to a public hospital for further treatment after examination and treatment by the institution Medical Officer. The assailants did not sustain any injuries.
The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.
The eight persons in custody were respectively remanded for the offences of robbery, trafficking in a dangerous drug, handling stolen goods, etc.
