Appointment of Executive Directors to SFC

     The Government announced today (September 29) that the Financial Secretary, Mr Paul Chan, under the authority delegated by the Chief Executive pursuant to the Securities and Futures Ordinance (Cap. 571), has appointed Mr Christopher Wilson as the Executive Director (Enforcement) of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), and appointed Mr Michael Duignan as the Executive Director (Corporate Finance), both for a term of three years from November 1, 2022, to October 31, 2025.

     Mr Chan said, "Mr Wilson and Mr Duignan have in-depth knowledge of the operation and regulation of the securities and futures markets in Hong Kong and are experienced professionals. I am confident that they will contribute towards the effective performance of the SFC's statutory functions to foster the development and regulation of Hong Kong's securities and futures markets."

     Mr Wilson has extensive experience in the legal field specialising in financial services and held senior executive positions in the legal departments of different major banks.

     Mr Duignan has been working in the SFC for eight years. He was a Senior Director of the Corporate Finance Division and is now serving in the Enforcement Division. Mr Duignan has over 20 years of regulatory experience. Prior to joining the SFC, he worked for overseas financial regulators and a stock exchange.

     Mr Wilson and Mr Duignan were selected through open recruitment exercises led by selection panels chaired by the Chairman of the SFC to succeed Mr Thomas Atkinson and Mr Brian Ho respectively.
