Latest progress of suspected child maltreatment incident in child care centre
*****************************************************************************
The Child Care Centres Advisory Inspectorate of the Social Welfare Department (SWD) has continued to follow up on the suspected child maltreatment incident that took place at a child care centre in Causeway Bay. An additional staff member and one more child were found to be related to the incident.

A suspected child maltreatment incident was unearthed by the SWD during its inspection at the centre on September 16. Upon further investigation, a staff member and six young children were found to be related to the incident. In the course of reviewing the CCTV footage at the concerned child care centre yesterday (September 27), the Child Care Centres Advisory Inspectorate of the SWD found that another staff member might have treated a child inappropriately. The operator was immediately requested to provide information about the staff member and the child. The child's case social worker was also deployed to the centre to follow up on the child's condition. Upon liaison with the hospital, arrangement was made for the child to have an examination in the company of the case social worker in the same evening. The incident is now handed over to the Police for investigation.
