Draft Ping Shan Outline Zoning Plan approved
*********************************************
The Chief Executive in Council has approved the draft Ping Shan Outline Zoning Plan (OZP).

"The approved OZP provides a statutory land use planning framework to guide the development and redevelopment within the Ping Shan area," a spokesman for the Town Planning Board said today (September 23).

The planning scheme area covers about 355.82 hectares of land in the western part of the New Territories North West. It is bounded by the Tin Shui Wai New Town and the Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen New Development Area in the west, Castle Peak Road in the south, Yuen Long New Town in the east and the fish ponds in Lau Fau Shan and Tsim Bei Tsui in the north.

The approved OZP has incorporated amendments shown on the draft Ping Shan OZP No. S/YL-PS/19, which mainly involved the rezoning of a site in Wang Chau from "Green Belt" and "Open Storage" to "Residential (Group A)5", and a site in Ping Shan north from "Recreation" to "Residential (Group A)6" and "Government, Institution or Community" for public housing developments and supporting infrastructural facilities.

Opportunity is also taken to amend the Notes and Explanatory Statement of the OZP to reflect the amendments and to update the general information of various land use zonings and the planning circumstances, where appropriate. Technical amendments are also made to the Notes, as appropriate.

The approved Ping Shan OZP No. S/YL-PS/20 is available for public inspection during office hours at (i) the Secretariat of the Town Planning Board, (ii) the Planning Enquiry Counters, (iii) the Tuen Mun and Yuen Long West District Planning Office, (iv) the Yuen Long District Office and (v) the Ping Shan Rural Committee.

Copies of the approved OZP are available for sale at the Map Publications Centres in North Point and Yau Ma Tei. The electronic version of the OZP can be viewed at the Town Planning Board's website (www.info.gov.hk/tpb).
