Twenty-three building plans approved in July

     The Buildings Department approved 23 building plans in July, with six on Hong Kong Island, eight in Kowloon and nine in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 16 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, two were for commercial developments, three were for factory and industrial developments, and two were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for works to start on nine building projects which, when completed, will provide 6 050 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use involving 164 units, and 4 134 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of superstructure works for 10 building projects.

     The department also issued 17 occupation permits, with five on Hong Kong Island, five in Kowloon and seven in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 64 707 sq m involving 1 131 units, and 157 830 sq m was for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in July totalled about $6.2 billion.

     In addition, five demolition consents involving five building structures were issued.

     The department received 2 943 reports about unauthorised building works (UBWs) in July and issued 1 036 removal orders on UBWs.
