Police hold Cyber Security Expo 2022 (with photos)
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Siu Chak-yee noted that the pandemic has accelerated the digitalisation process of the society. He added that while digitalisation has brought a lot of convenience to the daily lives, it also created some pitfalls. Hence, the Force is committed to boosting the public digital literacy, enhancing their abilities of rational thinking and building a clean and secure cyberspace.
The Expo is the first of its kind organised by the HKPF and supported by 61 government departments, educational groups and technology companies, including the Scout Association of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Girl Guides Association, the Education Bureau, the Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation. In addition to 31 cyber security and technology exhibition booths, it also offered a number of cyber security seminars, STEM workshops and interactive technologies, such as 5G robots, brain-controlled racing, VR games and drone racing. More significantly, two competitions, namely Cyber Security Innovation Challenge and Cyber Security Robotics Competition, were held. Over a hundred of secondary students competed for awards with their innovative technology solutions for daily lives and robots.
A series of youth educational programmes under the theme on “iDreamStation” will be launched by the CSTCB this year to cultivate the youth’s digital literacy and equip them with abilities to stay away from cyber pitfalls and distinguish misinformation and inappropriate content. For example, three story books were specially designed for primary students on handling cyber bullying, social networking traps and knowledge about Internet of Things (IoT).
Besides, the “CyberDefender”, a one-stop cyber knowledge platform of the CSTCB, provides the public with the latest information about cyber and information security, prevention of online scams, as well as practical security advice and safety tips from a professional perspective.
