Acclaimed Cantonese operas "'The Story of Jing Ke' from 'The Warring States Chronicle'" and "Lu Buwei - A Kingly Potential Asset" to be re-staged by Sun Moon Star Cantonese Opera
******************************************************************************************
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will present a rerun of two Cantonese operas adapted from history, namely "'The Story of Jing Ke' from 'The Warring States Chronicle'" and "Lu Buwei - A Kingly Potential Asset", by Sun Moon Star Cantonese Opera in October. The two plays were presented in 2017 and 2018 respectively and received high acclamation. Cantonese opera stars Ng Chin-fung, Yuen Siu-fai, Wan Fai-yin and other actors will gather to present these two familiar historical stories to the audience with their superb stagecraft and operatic performing skills. Cantonese opera fans should not miss the performance.

"'The Story of Jing Ke' from 'The Warring States Chronicle'" is adapted by playwright Ng Chin-fung from the classic historical story of "Jing Ke's assassination of the King of Qin". Ng, who also acts as Crown Prince Dan, and Yuen Siu-fai as Jing Ke in the play, will definitely bring a highly dramatic and breathtaking performance to the audience. Meanwhile, "Lu Buwei - A Kingly Potential Asset" is a play inspired by the story of Lu Buwei, a merchant who succeeded in usurping the Ying regime of Qin, as chronicled in "Annals of the Dukedoms of Eastern Zhou Period". The play received the Cantonese Opera Development Fund's Outstanding Script Award of the New Cantonese Opera Play Scriptwriting Competition in 2016.
