Contractor fined for violation of safety legislation

     Wai Fung Scaffolding Works Limited was fined $42,000 at West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts today (September 13) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Lifting Appliances and Lifting Gear) Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.

     The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on May 8, 2020, at a building renovation site at Chai Wan Kok Street, Tsuen Wan. A worker engaged in bamboo member lifting work on the external wall of the building was struck by falling bamboo members and fell from height. The worker was sent to hospital and passed away on the same day.
