The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Brussels (HKETO, Brussels) is supporting the participation of Hong Kong films at the Salento International Film Festival (SIFF), being held from September 6 to 11 (Bisceglie time) in Bisceglie, in the Apulia region of southern Italy.

This is the eighth year that HKETO, Brussels has supported the participation of Hong Kong films at the SIFF. In its current edition, the SIFF is screening Andrew Lau and Alan Mak's "Infernal Affairs" trilogy, as well as Kim Chan and Dee Lam's documentary, "Finding Bliss: Fire and Ice".

Addressing the audience before the screening of "Infernal Affairs" on September 8, the Deputy Representative of HKETO, Brussels, Mr Henry Tsoi, said Hong Kong has been fostering its role as a major arts centre in Asia and a hub for cultural exchanges between China and the rest of the world. Mr Tsoi added that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government will continue to support the Hong Kong film industry and its talents.

Hong Kong and the Apulia region enjoy strong links, and the best of the Salento International Film Festival has been screened in Hong Kong for nine years, most recently in October 2021.

In the margin of the SIFF, HKETO, Brussels, with the support of Invest Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, held a business seminar on September 9 to reach out to local entrepreneurs.

After the Mayor of Bisceglie, Mr Angelantonio Angarano, delivered his opening remarks at the seminar, Mr Tsoi told guests that business-friendly Hong Kong is the ideal location and the most trustworthy partner to help Italian entrepreneurs access markets in Mainland China and the region. He highlighted Hong Kong's integral role under the National 14th Five-Year Plan, which supports the city's development of eight international centres and emerging industries. Hong Kong enterprises and professionals can offer their expertise, business networks and world-class services to help Italian enterprises explore the vast opportunities brought about by the Belt and Road Initiative as well as the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The business seminar also served as an occasion to promote the Talent List of Hong Kong and the career opportunities the city offers to professionals.
