Government conducts joint blitz operation against suspected illegal operating barbeque sites at Kau Wa Keng

In the joint operation, the FEHD inspected the premises to check if they were operating an unlicensed food business and whether they had complied with the anti-epidemic regulations and the Food Business Regulation (Cap. 132X); the EPD conducted the assessment of odour and noise nuisance under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance (Cap. 311) and the Noise Control Ordinance (Cap. 400) , and checked whether the sewage discharge of the premises had complied with the regulations; the LandsD issued the notice on the unauthorised structures on private agricultural land, requiring them to make rectification before the deadlines under the Land (Miscellaneous Provisions) Ordinance (Cap. 28); the FSD conducted fire safety inspections on site and would take enforcement actions against irregularities identified; the Police took rigorous enforcement actions against prohibited group gathering in public areas under the Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition on Gathering) Regulation (Cap. 599G), with fixed penalty notices of $5,000 issued to 25 customers, and summon issued to the person in charge of the venue. All customers left the barbecue sites on their own voluntarily upon the police's advice.
The Government departments will continue to closely monitor the situation and take enforcement actions as appropriate.
