***************************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The Mid-Autumn Festival is a time for friends and family to come together. Patients in the Treatment Centre for COVID-19 at AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) were not able to appreciate the moon outdoors, but were still able to get into the festive spirit in the AWE.

The medical staff of the AWE held a series of activities for patients to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival yesterday and today (September 8 and 9). Apart from teaching patients how to make lanterns, they also gave out lanterns and festive food in the AWE, hoping the patients could feel uplifted amid their treatment.

Associate Consultant of Tuen Mun Hospital Dr Jennifer Tong, who was assigned to take care of patients in the AWE, said, "As healthcare professionals, we very much understand the feeling of patients not being able to return to their homes for the holiday. We hope that these festive activities can bring them joy and ease their anxiety during treatment."

At present, around 240 patients are being treated in the AWE. The medical staff wishes the patients a speedy recovery, and that they can be reunited with their families as soon as possible.
