A spokesman for the Government announced today (September 9) that a new Testing Registration Code function has been added to the "LeaveHomeSafe" mobile application to enable members of the public to fill in personal information in advance. The new function aims to reduce the time spent on queuing on-site and registration at testing points through a simplified registration process for nucleic acid testing.
 
     The latest 3.4.2 version of the "LeaveHomeSafe" mobile application is now available on various mobile application stores. Members of the public can update the application via relevant platforms to obtain the Testing Registration Code, which is easy to operate. Members of the public can fill in personal information required for testing registration in advance. A user-designated QR code containing the information will then be automatically generated by the system and encrypted for storage in the "LeaveHomeSafe" mobile application in the user's personal mobile phone. Members of the public only need to fill in the information in the application once. They can then reuse the same Testing Registration Code QR code for nucleic acid tests thereafter.
 
     When visiting community testing centres/mobile specimen collection stations for testing or undergoing compulsory testing subject to restriction-testing declarations, persons with the Testing Registration Code just need to present their QR code for scanning by the testing staff on site, in lieu of the staff's manual data input procedures. This can minimise the contact between the two parties and save the time of waiting for repeating registration and data input every time they undergo testing.
 
     The spokesman emphasised that it is entirely a voluntary decision for citizens to obtain the Testing Registration Code. The registration information in the Testing Registration Code will be stored solely in the user's personal mobile phone and will only be sent to the nucleic acid testing registration system when the user presents the QR code to the testing staff for scanning. The relevant information will not be automatically stored or sent to any Government systems or other systems. The information in the QR code is encrypted, and can only be decrypted and read by scanners provided by the Government.
 
     The spokesman also reminded members of the public that they are still required to bring along the necessary identification documents (such as a valid Hong Kong identity card) and a local mobile phone which can receive an SMS for verification of personal identity and mobile phone number by the staff, with a view to ensuring that the registered information is accurate and that the test result can be issued to the right person.
