Implementation of phase three of Blossom Around Town programme (with photos)
***************************************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) today (September 9) implemented phase three of the Blossom Around Town programme. Themed garden plots in Oriental and Western styles will be set up at designated parks in the 18 districts for public appreciation from today until October 16, including special themes with outstanding designs such as holiday resorts in Southeast Asia, traditional Chinese gardens and tree house-style gardens. The programme is under the exclusive sponsorship of the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC), and is one of the many initiatives supported by the HKJC's approved donation of $630 million to the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) to mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR, demonstrating that the HKJC is resolute in pursuing its purpose of acting continuously for the betterment of society, all in support of creating stronger communities together.

The public can take photos and check-in at the distinctive garden plots at designated parks (see attachment), and cast online votes for their favorite garden plots with a chance to win fabulous gifts.

Meanwhile, two 1:1 robotic dinosaurs on loan from the First Initiative Foundation will be situated with floral displays in four venues for public appreciation and photo-taking. These robotic dinosaur installations are gigantic, iconic, scientifically accurate and custom built, and were reconstructed under the supervision of paleontologists and with the latest scientific knowledge about these animals.

One robotic dinosaur will be showcased in each of the following venues: Central Plaza of Tsuen Wan Park (September 9 to October 30), Entrance Plaza at Tai Po Tung Cheong Street Leisure Building (September 10 to November 6), Piazza of Kowloon Park (November 7 to December 27) and Lawn Area of North Point Promenade (November 11 to December 30).

To celebrate the 25ᵗʰ anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR and allow wide participation by the community in sharing the festive joy, the LCSD has run the Blossom Around Town programme in three phases from June to October.

The beautification works of garden plots and floral arrangements in first two phases of the Blossom Around Town programme ended in early August, and received an overwhelming response. Phase three of the programme will be implemented from today until October 16.

People of all ages are welcome to join the programme and admission is free. The public can visit the LCSD's Blossom Around Town webpage (www.bat.gov.hk) for details.
