Global recruitment exercise for CEO of SFC commenced
****************************************************

The Government announced today (September 9) the commencement of a global recruitment exercise for the next Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC).

The Selection Panel chaired by the Financial Secretary will identify the most suitable candidate for recommendation for appointment by the Chief Executive. Members of the Selection Panel are Mr Joseph Yam, Mr Tim Lui, Mr Carlson Tong, Mr Nicky Lo and the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury.

"We expect the new CEO to lead the Commission, and to implement the regulatory objectives under the Securities and Futures Ordinance as well as the policies and strategies set by the SFC Board to further the development of Hong Kong's financial services and capital market as an international financial centre," a Government spokesman said.

The Government has appointed a consulting firm to support the work of the Selection Panel. The recruitment advertisements will be published in the local and international press starting tomorrow (September 10). Upon completion of the recruitment exercise, a separate announcement on the appointment of the CEO of the SFC will be made.

The SFC announced in July that the incumbent CEO, Mr Ashley Alder, will leave the SFC in late 2022.
