     The Hospital Authority today (September 2) announced information regarding patients who tested positive via admission screening or testing with patients or staff members identified as close contacts and nosocomial COVID-19 infection cases.
 
     The following are the statistics of patients who tested positive via admission screening or by testing in public hospitals with patients or staff members identified as close contacts:

     In addition, an 82-year-old female patient in a medical ward of Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital (HKBH) was transferred to Queen Elizabeth Hospital on August 30 due to deterioration of her condition. The patient concerned tested positive for COVID-19 through testing on the same day, and is in critical condition. HKBH commenced a contact tracing investigation and screening in the ward. Two more female patients, aged 88 and 101, tested positive for COVID-19. They are being treated in isolation and are in stable condition and serious condition respectively.
 
     Moreover, a 91-year-old male patient in a medicine and geriatrics ward of Princess Margaret Hospital tested positive for COVID-19 on September 1. The hospital commenced a contact tracing investigation and has identified three more male patients, aged 27 to 86, who stayed with the patient concerned in the same cubicle and also tested positive. One of the patients had been discharged and will be followed up by the Centre for Health Protection (CHP), while the other three patients are being treated in isolation and are in stable condition. The hospital is investigating the linkage of the cases concerned.

     Visiting arrangements for the wards concerned have been suspended. Thorough cleaning and disinfection operations have been conducted. The hospitals will continue to monitor the health condition of patients and staff members closely, and communicate with the CHP on the latest situation.
