Announcement of second round results of Public Policy Research Funding Scheme 2022-23
The Secretariat of the Public Policy Research (PPR) Funding Scheme announced today (September 2) the results of the second round applications to the PPR Funding Scheme in 2022-23.
The PPR Funding Scheme is one of the most well-established government-financed funding schemes dedicated to fostering and supporting evidence-based public policy research by higher education institutions and think tanks in Hong Kong. For the second round exercise in 2022-23, 30 applications were received. On the advice of the Assessment Panel, five projects were supported with total funding of about $2.8 million. The five funded projects cover research areas relating to economic development, livelihood issues and innovation and information technology, etc.

Applications to the PPR Funding Scheme are accepted throughout the year and assessed by an independent Assessment Panel which comprises experienced academics. Each application is considered on its merits and relevance to public policy development in Hong Kong. The Assessment Panel will also take into account comments of outside reviewers who are academics and experts during the assessment process. A declaration of interests system is in place to ensure that the assessments are fair and impartial.

Details of the funded projects are set out in the Annex.
