Temporary suspension of surface mail services to Australia and certain destinations

     Hongkong Post announced today (August 29) that as advised by the postal administration of Australia, due to capacity issue at the Port of Sydney, Australia Post will cease the acceptance of surface mails. In this connection, all surface mail services to Australia will be suspended from September 1 until further notice.

     In addition, surface mail services transiting via Australia to Christmas Island, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Nauru, Norfolk Island, Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands will also be suspended from the same day.

     Members of the public may consider using the available air mail services, Speedpost and Vantage services for sending mail items to Australia for the time being.
