Appointments to Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority

     ​The Government today (August 26) announced the appointment of Mr Yau Siu-hung as the Deputy Chairman of the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA) Council. In addition, the Government appointed three new members and re-appointed one incumbent member to the HKEAA Council. The appointments are for three years from September 1, 2022, to August 31, 2025. Details of the appointments are as follows:

     Also joining the HKEAA as an ex-officio member will be Ms Jeannie Tsang Wing-shi, nominated by the Heads of Universities Committee (HUCOM).
 
     The Secretary for Education, Dr Choi Yuk-lin, said, “As an important partner of the Education Bureau, the HKEAA has been providing quality examination and assessment services ranging from the internationally recognised Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination to international and professional examinations with its professional knowledge and expertise in the field over the years. I believe that the HKEAA, under the steering of its appointed Council members, will continue to enrich the expertise of the Authority.”
      
     Dr Choi welcomed Mr Yau Siu-hung to serve as the Deputy Chairman, and Mr Eric Chan Cheung-wai, Mr Choy Sai-hung, Mr Addy Wong Wai-hung and Ms Jeannie Tsang Wing-shi to join as members. She also expressed gratitude to the outgoing Deputy Chairman, Dr Mak Chi-keung, as well as outgoing members, Ms Bonnie Lai Miu-yee and Ms Jane Leung Chui-chun, and ex-officio member, Mr Edward Shen, for their invaluable contributions to the work of the Authority.
      
     The HKEAA is a statutory body established under the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority Ordinance (Chapter 261) to conduct public examinations and other examinations or assessments approved by the Chief Executive. The composition of the Authority is stipulated in Schedule 2 of the Ordinance. Members of the Authority include school principals, teachers, representatives of tertiary institutions, a person who represents the interests of parents, and persons experienced in commerce, industry or a profession.
