Hospital Authority announces positive patient cases detected via admission screening or testing and clusters of nosocomial COVID-19 infections

The Hospital Authority today (August 23) announced information regarding patients who tested positive via admission screening or testing with patients or staff members identified as close contacts and nosocomial COVID-19 infection cases.
The following are the statistics of patients who tested positive via admission screening or by testing in public hospitals with patients or staff members identified as close contacts:

In addition, a 56-year-old male patient in a mixed gender medical ward of Tung Wah Hospital received a polymerase chain reaction test on August 19 due to fever and tested positive for COVID-19. The hospital commenced a contact tracing investigation. Three more male patients (aged 57 to 63), one staff member and two student nurses also tested positive subsequently. The four patients have been transferred to Queen Mary Hospital and TWGHs Fung Yiu King Hospital for isolation treatment and are in stable condition.
Furthermore, an 85-year-old patient in a female orthopaedic rehabilitation ward of Tai Po Hospital tested positive for COVID-19 on August 21. The hospital commenced a contact tracing investigation. Three more patients (aged 54 to 95) and one staff member also tested positive. The four patients have been transferred to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital for isolation treatment and are in stable condition.
The hospitals are investigating the linkage among the cases concerned. Admission and visiting arrangements for the wards concerned have been suspended. Thorough cleaning and disinfection operations were conducted. The hospitals will continue to monitor the health condition of patients and staff members closely, and communicate with the Centre for Health Protection on the latest situation.
