Arson in Wong Tai Sin reclassified as manslaughter

     Police today (August 22) reclassified the arson in Wong Tai Sin on August 18 as manslaughter.
      
     About 2.30pm that day, Police received respective reports that a fire broke out inside a unit in Lok Tung House in Lok Fu Estate.
      
     Police officers sped to the scene. After the fire was put out, a 66-year-old woman, who was suspected of smoke inhalation, was found lying unconscious inside the unit. She was rushed to Kwong Wah Hospital in unconscious state.
      
     After investigation, Police arrested an 11-year-old boy in Wong Tai Sin for arson on the same day.
      
     The woman was certified dead at 9.29pm on August 19.
      
     Police today reclassified the case as manslaughter. The boy has been released on bail pending further enquiries and is required to report back to Police in mid-September.
      
     Active investigation by the District Crime Squad of Wong Tai Sin District is underway.
