Senior staff movement in Hong Kong Monetary Authority

The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority:

     The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) announced today (August 19) that Deputy Chief Executive, Mr Edmond Lau, will leave the HKMA on resignation for early retirement with effect from November 1, 2022.

     The Chief Executive of the HKMA, Mr Eddie Yue, said "I would like to thank Edmond for his dedicated service and contributions to the HKMA's work over the years, particularly in financial stability and market development. My colleagues and I wish him all the best in his next page of life."
      
     Mr Lau oversees the work of Monetary Management, External and Research Departments. Open recruitment will be arranged for the post to be left vacant by Mr Lau. The Financial Secretary will chair a Selection Panel to identify the Deputy Chief Executive of the HKMA. Members of the Selection Panel include Professor Lawrence Lau, Mr Nicky Lo, Dr Victor Fung and Mr Eddie Yue. A separate announcement will be made after the completion of the selection process.
