Hospital Authority announces positive patient cases detected via admission screening or testing and clusters of nosocomial COVID-19 infections

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The Hospital Authority today (August 9) announced information regarding patients who tested positive via admission screening or testing with patients or staff members identified as close contacts and nosocomial COVID-19 infection cases.
 
     The following are the statistics of patients who tested positive via admission screening or by testing in public hospitals with patients or staff members identified as close contacts:

     In addition, a staff member of a female adult psychiatric ward of Castle Peak Hospital tested positive for COVID-19 on August 4. The hospital had arranged testing for all patients and staff members in the ward concerned. A patient tested positive yesterday (August 8) and the case was announced in the press release yesterday. Two more patients in the ward concerned subsequently tested positive today. So far, altogether three patients and one staff member have tested positive. All of them are being treated under isolation in stable condition. The hospital is investigating the linkage among the four cases.
 
     Admission for the ward concerned has been suspended. Thorough cleaning and disinfection were arranged. The hospital will continue to closely monitor the health conditions of patients and staff members, and communicate with the Centre for Health Protection on the latest situation.
