Tung Cheong Street Sports Centre to open on August 15 (with photos)
*******************************************************************
Tung Cheong Street Sports Centre, managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) in Tai Po, will open for public use on August 15 (Monday). It is the sixth indoor sports centre under the LCSD in Tai Po District, and provides a wide range of leisure and sports facilities.

The new sports centre is located on the ground floor and the third floor of Tai Po Tung Cheong Street Leisure Building at 25 Tung Cheong Street, and has a total area of about 9 400 square metres. Facilities include a multi-purpose arena (which can serve as two basketball courts or two volleyball courts or eight badminton courts; the basketball courts will be ready for use after the basketball backstop works complete.), two multi-purpose activity rooms, a children's play room, an indoor bowling green, and a fitness room (the latter is expected to commence services by early 2023). The sports centre will be open from 7am to 11pm daily, except on the first and third Thursdays of each month, when it will be closed from 9am to 3pm for regular maintenance.

The basement car park of Tai Po Tung Cheong Street Leisure Building had earlier been opened for public use on August 1, and the adjacent Nam Wan Road Sitting-out Area had also been reopened for public use on August 5.

In addition to the above facilities, Tung Cheong Street Swimming Pool, which is located on the first floor of the Leisure Building, is expected to open for public use on August 22 (Monday). This swimming pool will be the first indoor heated swimming pool in Tai Po District, and its facilities include a training pool measuring 25 metres x 25m, a teaching pool measuring 25m x 10m, and a Jacuzzi.

Those who plan to visit Tai Po Tung Cheong Street Leisure Building can walk from Exit B of Tai Po Market MTR Station in about 12 minutes, or take various bus and minibus routes there.

Members of the public can reserve the fee-charging facilities of Tung Cheong Street Sports Centre from August 9 (Tuesday) via the Internet Booking Service of Leisure Link. For enquiries, please call the venue staff at 5190 4877 (applicable before August 15) or call 2691 2055 (applicable from August 15 onwards after the opening of the sports centre), or visit the LCSD website (www.lcsd.gov.hk/en/index.html).
