Hospital Authority announces positive patient cases detected via admission screening or testing and clusters of nosocomial COVID-19 infections

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The Hospital Authority today (July 22) announced information regarding patients who tested positive via admission screening or testing with patients or staff members identified as close contacts and nosocomial COVID-19 infection cases.
 
     The following are the statistics of patients who tested positive via admission screening or by testing in public hospitals with patients or staff members identified as close contacts:

     In addition, a patient of a male rehabilitation ward of Kowloon Hospital tested positive for COVID-19 on July 18. The hospital commenced contact tracing investigation. Two patients and one staff member also tested positive for COVID-19. The patients concerned have been transferred to United Christian Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital for isolation treatment, and are in stable condition. The staff member concerned is also in stable condition. Three patients in the same ward are identified as close contacts.
 
     Also, two more patients tested positive for COVID-19 in another rehabilitation ward of Kowloon Hospital with confirmed cases announced earlier. The patients concerned have been transferred to United Christian Hospital for isolation treatment and are in stable condition. There are altogether eight patients and one staff member who have tested positive in the ward concerned so far.
 
     Furthermore, a patient in a surgical ward of Tuen Mun Hospital tested positive for COVID-19 on July 18. The hospital commenced contact tracing investigation. Three patients and four staff members also tested positive for COVID-19. The hospital is investigating the linkage of the cases concerned. All four infected patients are being treated under isolation in stable condition. Four staff members are in stable condition. Testing has been arranged for patients and staff members of the ward concerned.

     Admission and visiting arrangements for the aforementioned wards have been suspended. Thorough cleaning and disinfection has been conducted. The hospital will continue to monitor the health condition of patients and staff members closely, and communicate with the Centre for Health Protection on the latest situation.
