In response to media enquiries about the passing of giant panda An An, the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau (CSTB) gave the following response:
 
     We are deeply saddened by the passing of giant panda An An, who brought Hong Kong people many fond memories over the past 23 years. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Ocean Park for taking good care of An An throughout the years, as well as experts from the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda for their continued support.
