Thirty-four building plans approved in May

     The Buildings Department approved 34 building plans in May, with 15 on Hong Kong Island, six in Kowloon and 13 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 25 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, two were for commercial developments, two were for factory and industrial developments, and five were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for works to start on 12 building projects which, when completed, will provide 195 206 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use involving 3 695 units, and 43 472 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of superstructure works for seven building projects.

     The department also issued 23 occupation permits, with five on Hong Kong Island, three in Kowloon and 15 in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 120 735 sq m involving 1 183 units, and 60 353 sq m was for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in May totalled about $9.7 billion.

     In addition, nine demolition consents involving nine building structures were issued.

     The department received 2 557 reports about unauthorised building works (UBWs) in May and issued 1 424 removal orders on UBWs.
