New arrangement for departure special nucleic acid testing service at Shenzhen Bay Control Point running smoothly
***************************************************************

The Government implemented from today (July 15) a new arrangement at Shenzhen Bay Control Point, requesting outbound travellers to present proof of booking confirmation for undergoing the special nucleic acid test. Notices were put up at the control point and additional staff were deployed to assist the travellers. The testing procedures have been running smoothly since this morning.

A Government spokesman advised travellers to arrive at Shenzhen Bay Control Point according to the time slot as reserved. However, to avoid unnecessary waiting, there is no need for them to arrive much earlier in advance of the reserved time slot. Travellers will be arranged to receive the special nucleic acid test upon presentation of the SMS or a screen capture of the booking confirmation to the staff on-site when they get to the control point during the reserved time slot.

The number of testing quotas for special nucleic acid tests at Shenzhen Bay Control Point is much greater than that for reservations at a Shenzhen quarantine hotel. Travellers have no reason to worry about the testing quotas. Currently, there are still ample testing time slots (30 minutes per session) available for reservations of the special nucleic acid testing service at Shenzhen Bay Control Point. As at 7pm, the situation of the testing service booking was as follows:

Date of testing Percentage of testing service time slots still available for booking
July 16 49.3%
July 17 54.2%
July 18 61.2%
July 19 65.2%
July 20 70.8%
July 21 99.9%

Those who fail to present the booking confirmation or fail to arrive at the control point during the reserved time slot will not be able to continue with their journey across the boundary should they eventually not be able to undergo the test at the control point.

The Government will keep monitoring the cross-boundary passenger flow closely and expand the testing capacity and waiting area at an appropriate juncture with a view to streamlining the clearance procedures.
