Government reminds public of registration timing of 2022 (Phase II) Consumption Voucher Scheme
***************************************************************

The Government spokesman today (July 9) said that since applications for amendment of registration records and new registrations for the 2022 (Phase II) Consumption Voucher Scheme (the Scheme) were opened on June 23, the electronic registration portal and the eight temporary service centres have been operating smoothly. As at 6pm of July 8, about 230 000 new registrations and 180 000 applications for change of stored value facility (SVF) account have been received, after eliminating duplicated registrations/applications.

The spokesman reminded existing registrants (i.e. people who have received vouchers under Phase I in April this year) who do not want to change the SVF accounts under Phase II or amend other registration records that they are not required to go through any procedure. The Government will make use of their existing registration records for eligibility checking and will notify them of the result through SMS in end July.

As for eligible persons who have not registered before, and existing registrants who want to change their SVF account for receiving consumption vouchers under Phase II, they should visit the electronic registration portal in the Scheme website (www.consumptionvoucher.gov.hk)or one of the temporary service centres on or before July 23 to complete the procedure with the assistance of centre staff. In general, registrants will receive the result through SMS about one week after submitting the registration/application for change of registration records. The addresses and opening hours of the eight service centres can be found in the Scheme website. Reservation can be made in advance through the hotline 18 5000.

People choosing to upload a copy of their identity card (ID) for authentication should ensure that the image uploaded is clear, non-reflective, and meets the format requirements, otherwise the Government is unable to process the registration/application for amendment of registration records. If a registrant receives a SMS notifying him/her that the ID copy uploaded does not meet the requirements, he/she can re-submit / re-apply on or before July 23 and upload an image of his/her ID copy that meets the requirements.

The spokesman reiterated that each registrant can only register/apply for change of SVF account once and duplicated registration or application will not be processed. Each SVF account can only be registered once, and cannot be changed after submission of registration. People should therefore ensure that the SVF account provided is valid and the information provided is accurate in order to receive the vouchers under Phase II by instalments starting from August 7.

The spokesman reminded people in particular that they should protect their personal data carefully. The Government and its contractors will only communicate with the registrants by designated telephone numbers (including calling the registrants or sending SMS to them). The designated telephone numbers are listed in the Scheme website.

The public may visit the Scheme website or call the hotline 18 5000 for details about the Scheme.
