Hospital Authority announces positive patient cases detected via admission screening or testing and clusters of nosocomial COVID-19 infections

     The Hospital Authority today (July 7) announced information regarding patients who tested positive via admission screening or testing with patients or staff members identified as close contacts and nosocomial COVID-19 infection cases:
 
     The following are the statistics of patients who tested positive via admission screening or by testing in public hospitals with patients or staff members identified as close contacts:

     In addition, a male patient of a medical mixed ward of Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital tested positive for COVID-19 on July 4 via admission screening. The hospital commenced contact tracing investigation. Six male patients and one nurse in the same ward also tested positive. Five patients are being treated under isolation, while the remaining two patients had been discharged and isolated at home. All patients are in stable condition. The staff member is being isolated at home in stable condition. The hospital is investigating the linkage among the eight cases. Admission and visiting arrangements for the ward concerned have been suspended. Thorough cleaning and disinfection have been conducted.
 
     Furthermore, two more male patients, who were hospitalised in an infirmary ward of Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital, tested positive for COVID-19 today. So far, there are altogether 12 patients and four staff members who have tested positive. An infection control team is investigating the linkage among the aforementioned cases while the ward concerned will continue to suspend admission and visiting arrangements. Thorough cleaning and disinfection have also been conducted. The patients concerned have been transferred back to TWGHs Wong Tai Sin Hospital for treatment under isolation. All patients are in stable condition.
 
     The hospitals will continue to closely monitor the health condition of patients and staff members, and communicate with the Centre for Health Protection on the latest situation.
