****************************************************************************************
The Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr Kevin Yeung, assuming his office today (July 1), visited several leisure facilities under the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD). Accompanied by the Director of LCSD, Mr Vincent Liu, Mr Yeung visited the Hong Kong Velodrome in the afternoon to learn about the training base of the Hong Kong Cycling Team and international track cycling competitions. Mr Yeung then visited Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground where he was briefed on the arrangement of this facility as a training base for athletes from the Hong Kong Association of Athletics Affiliates and the Hong Kong Premier League. Afterwards, Mr Yeung proceeded to Tseung Kwan O Sports Centre. He observed the usage of the facility and learnt more about anti-touting measures imposed by the LCSD.

Mr Yeung said, "Today marks the establishment of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau. We will promote the long-term development of the culture, sports, tourism and creative industries in a more effective manner, such that everyone can live and work with contentment. The LCSD organises a wide variety of sports programmes for the public and its recreation facilities have always been popular. Celebrating the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland, I wish all the people good health and happiness, and a joyful July 1."

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the LCSD will hold the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR - Free Use of Leisure Facilities today. The event will allow members of the public to use most of the LCSD's fee-charging leisure facilities for free as individual users. Free admission will also be offered to the permanent exhibitions of the Hong Kong Science Museum and Hong Kong Space Museum (except for the Space Theatre's shows). Members of the public are welcome to share the bliss on this special occasion.
