Announcement of 2022 Honours List and Justices of the Peace appointments postponed
**********************************************************************************
A Government spokesman said today (June 28) that as the Government is focusing on the preparatory work for the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and related activities, the announcement of this year's Honours List and Justices of the Peace (JPs) appointments will be postponed.

Honours and awards are awarded to individuals in recognition of their significant contributions to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region or their dedicated public and community service. JPs are appointed under the Justices of the Peace Ordinance (Cap. 510) with the main function of visiting custodial institutions or detention centres.

The Government spokesman said, "The annual Honours List and the list of new JPs appointments are normally published in the Government Gazette on Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Establishment Day (July 1). When there were special circumstances in the past (such as the pandemic), it was decided to announce the Honours List and the list of JPs appointments on a different date."

The Government will announce this year's Honours List and JPs appointments at an appropriate time.
