Amendments to Tung Chung Line Extension gazetted

The TCL Extension project, gazetted on December 10, 2021, is one of the seven recommended railway schemes under the Railway Development Strategy 2014. It mainly comprises two parts, namely an approximately 1.3-kilometre-long extension of the existing TCL to a new terminal station at Tung Chung West (TCW) and a new intermediate railway station at the Tung Chung East reclamation area between Sunny Bay Station and Tung Chung Station with an approximately 1.2-km-long track realignment.
A government spokesman said, "The amendments gazetted today involve the General Layout Plan, the Land Resumption Plan, the Creation of Rights of Temporary Occupation of Land Plan and the Control of Building Plans and Commencement of Work Plan where the boundary of the scheme and land area in TCW were amended. The construction works of the proposed TCL Extension will commence soon after the authorisation of the scheme and are expected to be completed by 2029."
Under the Railways Ordinance, members of the public have the right to lodge objections to the amendments in relation to the TCL Extension scheme from today until August 23, 2022. Any person who has a compensatable interest can claim compensation under the provisions of the Ordinance.
The Amendments to Scheme and the Amendment Plans are available for public inspection at the Central & Western Home Affairs Enquiry Centre, the Islands Home Affairs Enquiry Centre (Tung Chung) and the District Lands Office, Islands, during office hours.
