Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs and Director of Chief Executive's Office test positive for COVID-19

     A Government spokesman today (June 23) said that the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Erick Tsang Kwok-wai, and the Director of the Chief Executive's Office, Mr Chan Kwok-ki, had tested positive for COVID-19 through nucleic acid tests.  They are undergoing isolation in accordance with the guidelines of the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health.

     Mr Tsang and Mr Chan last went to work on June 22 and June 20 respectively. They wore masks and followed relevant disease prevention measures at work, including rapid antigen tests conducted daily with negative results obtained.  They have no recent travel history. 

     The wife of Mr Tsang, the Commissioner of Customs and Excise, Ms Louise Ho Pui-shan, has tested negative for COVID-19 through a nucleic acid test.  She is identified as a close contact after the assessment conducted by the CHP, and is undergoing quarantine in accordance with the guidelines of the CHP.

     Mr Chan has been undergoing quarantine since June 21 in accordance with the guidelines of the CHP as his wife has earlier tested positive for COVID-19.

     The Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau and the Chief Executive's Office will conduct thorough cleaning and disinfection at the offices concerned, and will arrange for relevant staff members to undergo COVID-19 tests in accordance with the advice from the CHP.
